Compliance & Regulatory Change

  • Successful multi location rollout of new AML/Transaction Monitoring and Risk Scoring solution for Private Bank and coordinate with external vendor and internal IT and Business stakeholders.

  • Implementation complex change relating to CFTC large position monitoring and owner controller reporting with two external solution providers and lead related change of bank operating model and account with clearing member

  • Urgent implementation of this US regulatory project. IRS Section 1446(f) imposes withholding tax on the sale or transfer of interests in a partnership engaged in U.S. trade or business by foreign partners, generally requiring 10% withholding by the transferee.

  • Coordination of impact analysis, define target operating model and implement required IT and business changes globally relating to change of buy in procedure and settlement penalties under CSDR.

  • Implementation of tactical solution in order for Swiss Private Bank to be in compliance with AIFMD and coordinating design and implementation of strategic IT solution later.

  • Analysis phase of project to change the bank’s global clearing infrastructure (with clearing brokers and/or through direct clearing) to create optimal clearing strategy given the regulatory changes (EMIR).

  • Process and business risk assessment for service offering of OTC products. Part of the assessments focussed specifically at regulatory compliance risk (MIFID II, AIFMD). Deliveries were analysis study documents for global bank management team.

Corporate Restructuring

  • Based on recovery and resolution policy (RRP) and driven from Banking Groups strategy, existing (private) bank needed to be split in operating bank and a new service company. As global program manager, I was responsible for managing senior management stakeholders from global (front office) business, global functions (Risk, Compliance, HR, Legal, Finance, Communications etc.) and IT & operations as well as coordination of various work streams focussing on the design and successful implementation.

  • Responsible for managing all actions related to the change in legal structure of Foreign private banking activity  and opening of a new subsidiary for Swiss Private Bank. Involved from initiation phase from resource planning, project governance, communication, and coordination of actions from Legal, Compliance, Finance, Risk, IT, HR in foreign subsidiary country and Switzerland.

  • After regulatory license has been received, responsible for coordination of roll out of opening of Middle East Branch for a Swiss Private Bank. Managing actions with stakeholders from Legal, Compliance, Finance, Risk, IT, HR etc. both in Middle East and Switzerland.

Risk Management

  • Global coordination of software implementation project (with functional and technical streams) regarding Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) of a global private bank at 24 locations.

    Definition of KRIs on Risk, Compliance, Front Office including red/amber/green (RAG) thresholds, coordinating selection of a set of priority KRIs, design of dashboard views for different (senior) management.

  • Development of risk control framework for the newly established service company, ensuring compliance with FINMA and global regulations.

  • Market and credit risk / debtors management of large retail equity structured product portfolio of international bank.

    Responsible for creation of credit risk reporting including KPI’s (e.g. debtors/default recovery) for management and executive committee of Bank and Group. 

    Advisory role to the CFO and COO of the bank. Co-designer of a provisioning model for credit risk of this portfolio, that was validated by external accountant and supervising authorities. Other functions: representative member of Group Basel II credit risk committee and ALM Committee member the bank.

  • Management of daily market risk reports and interacted directly with traders to monitor trading risks and compliance with limits.

    We led the implementation of a Value at Risk (VaR) management system, enhancing the bank’s risk monitoring capabilities.

Commodities & Energy

  • Projects managed from single product hedging strategies for purchase/sales price risk exposure, development of multi product hedging models up to hedging profit margin at company level.

    Hedging Software was developed for support of clients’ trading and hedging decisions for agro and metals. Clients were agro and food industry, energy companies, banks, pension funds and commodity and energy exchanges.

  • Process and business risk assessment for service offering of OTC products. Part of the assessments focussed specifically at regulatory compliance risk (MIFID II, AIFMD). Deliveries were analysis study documents for global bank management team.

  • Subject matter expert in commodities during the concept phase of a program aimed at international expansion of clearing services by connecting new trading venues. Responsible for solution design (both functional and technical) for commodity derivatives clearing trade life cycle including physical delivery aspects. Rolled out inherent risk assessments to guide design of controls in solution design.
